A High School that Combats Generational Poverty

As part of Build UP's program, students ​will acquire a career-focused education,

​​​gain knowledge and skills in a high-demand professional field or trade,

and ​become owners of homes and possibly even rental properties to build wealth.

​This creates an economic and social safety net resulting in the
​longer-term revitalization of their communities.

School Sites: From Build UP - Ensley to
​Build UP- Titusville

Build UP - Ensley was our flagship site (August 12, 2018), on which we focused all initial growth and improvement efforts. Build UP - Ensley started with a team of over 15 full-time, part-time, and contracted staff members leading over 70 youth towards successful futures that they determined. Build UP - Titusville became our first permanent home, allowing us to extend access to another high-need Birmingham community.

Build UP's unique approach is an anti-gentrification revitalization model that empowers long-term growth driven by young leaders (Build UP graduates) from within the community, to Build UP themselves, their family, and their neighbors.
